Join as a whole team
How can my team join?
If your team is already formed, (or is in the process of forming), please contact us via the contact page. Please select the "Secretary" under the heading "Who do you wish to contact?", and in the large box below that, comment that your team is interested in joining and inform us of the venue name & town/village of where your team will be based.
Any new team should commit themselves to completing at least one full season and ideally consist of 12 (or more) players. Going forward we will of course provide you with any help, advice or information that you might need, to get your team started in the league.
All matches are played on Tuesdays, commencing at 8:00pm, and the season typically runs from September through to May of the following year, with a break during the Christmas and New Year period. The league currently covers this approximate region of North Somerset.

How do I get started?
[1] Already aware of a venue/team near you?
If so, simply visit the venue on a Tuesday night when the team is playing at their home venue (see Fixtures page), and ask to speak to the team captain (see Teams page). Let him/her know that you are interested in playing skittles. If the team captain has vacancies available, he/she will progress arrangements with you, and inform the Secretary on your behalf (to register you with the league). If there are no vacancies available - please see [2] below.
[2] Not aware of a venue/team near you?
Please contact us via the contact page. Please select the "Secretary" under the heading "Who do you wish to contact?", and in the large box below that, comment that you are interested in joining and state just the town/village where you reside. Feel free to include anything else you feel might be relevant. The Secretary will make enquiries with team captains of venues that best suit your needs, and then email you back with relevant information.
If vacancies are available, and if you wish to proceed, then the team captain would progress the arrangements with you.
Frequently asked questions
How might I benefit?
Playing skittles in a team is an enjoyable pastime, and gives you the opportunity to meet and socialise with lots of new people throughout the season. The game of skittles is suitable for both men and women of all age groups and provides you with a good form of gentle exercise.
You might also wish to attend the dinner dance event organised by the league each year. This event also sees the presentation of end of season awards to both teams and individuals - it could be your team or you personally, receiving a trophy and/or prize money award!
Do I need any previous experience?
No, many league members began playing skittles having little or no previous experience. The rules of play are relatively few and easy to follow - your team captain and team colleagues will help you with any questions you might have.
When and where would I play skittles?
The league's season typically runs from September through to May of the following year, with a break during the Christmas and New Year period. All matches are played on a Tuesday night, commencing at 8:00pm throughout the region of North Somerset. We currently have teams within this approximate catchment area
What are my commitments?
The most important thing is that you make an effort to turn up and be available to play for most matches throughout the season. Occasions like holidays, work shifts, family events, etc, would understandably prevent you from perhaps attending every match.
How much will it cost?
The typical contribution is between £2 and £3 per game but only if the team captain selects you to play. The team captain will be able to advise you of the exact amount prior to joining.
Unlike many other sports, there is no equipment to purchase, nor is there any special clothing required - so the only other costs would be any drinks, beverages or snacks you might wish to purchase from the venue's bar, (and if applicable, transport costs of getting to the venue and back home).
